Frank Kane: 'I was just reading about how natural uranium deposits sometimes spontaneously undergo nuclear fission. It was noted that this was first discovered in 1972 while some uranium ore was being analyzed for a nuclear power plant. 1972! The "atomic age" was so long ago, and the "space age" even longer. To me, THAT is technology. Harnessing the power of the atom. Putting men on the moon and safely returning them. Impressive shit.

'Today, we live in the "information age". What would extraterrestrial space aliens think if they visited our civilization today, only to find billions of people sitting in front of glowing boxes all day, making little lights on them blink in what they consider to be interesting patterns? Including a handful of people at NASA making pretty pictures on their computers of how they might try to re-invent Apollo-era technology over the next 30 years.'
