David Weinberger makes it pretty clear that, web-conceptually, 1.0 will be radically old-school. Another interesting tidbit from his review:

"[T]here's a rumor that Microsoft is doing a virtual version of [create Works], its defeatured Office product."

That certainly would make sense. I hope (but, given the track record, am mildly pessimistic) that they could control the urge to implement it as ActiveX control, tho.
