Attack of the document databases:

CouchDb. Got it all running. Erlang, views in JavaScript, data as JSON.

Thrudb. Built on the real Facebook platform, i.e. Thrift, memcached &c.

RDDB. Ruby.

No idea whether they're any good, but in any case (and at the very least) CouchDb has a great logo.

Why c3o tumbles.

Great new Soup featurelets: "Reposted by X, Y, Z."/"Reposted from X via Y." — Something that I'd love to have in del.icio.us as well (as a semi-obsessive via:-chronicler and proto-professional MemeMapper), especially as I'm pretty sure that they log that data anyway (how could a former Wall Street data jockey not?).

And, believe it or not, Soup exposes permalinks now.

Apparently, [create Nintendo] works on an open-source (research) operating system (and now, fasten your seatbelts) in which all user-land code is written in JavaScript (executed using a custom JavaScript interpreter called esjs), graphics being handled by Cairo. There's even a Squeak port available. It's not early April in Japan, right?

Update: I couldn't get the demo image to run for more than a couple of seconds in QEMU; something in (virtual) ATA-land seems fishy.

Addendum: Related (somehow), but scarier: Perl/Linux, a Linux distribution where all programs are written in Perl.
