Apparently, [create Nintendo] works on an open-source (research) operating system (and now, fasten your seatbelts) in which all user-land code is written in JavaScript (executed using a custom JavaScript interpreter called esjs), graphics being handled by Cairo. There's even a Squeak port available. It's not early April in Japan, right?

Update: I couldn't get the demo image to run for more than a couple of seconds in QEMU; something in (virtual) ATA-land seems fishy.

Addendum: Related (somehow), but scarier: Perl/Linux, a Linux distribution where all programs are written in Perl.
