Creator of REBOL, founder of REBOL Technologies.

Carl Sassenrath started using computers when he had to simulate brain functions while working as a neuro-physiology research assistant at UCD. In 1979 he was recruited by HP as an operating system engineer. Carl worked on HP's [create MPE] system software before leaving the company to join a Stanford University research team at the [create South Pole] in 1981. Returning in 1982, he engineered one of the first GUIs (on a Sun workstation lent to him by Andy Bechtolsheim).

In 1983 he was recruited by [create Amiga Computer] to develop the operating system for the machine they were developing. When it was released in 1985, the Amiga was a groundbreaking advancement — the first personal multimedia computer on the market.

After working on this highly successful project, Carl went on to work at Apple, [create Pantaray], [create American Multimedia], [create Videostream] and finally REBOL Technologies.
