The Newton, or sometimes simply 'Newt'.
full name: Apple Newton Message Pad.
A Pen-operated PDA by Apple computers, the grandfather of all pen-PDAs and for some simply the PDA.

Noteable features:
handwriting-recognition with the ability to adapt (learn) to the writing style of it's user.

Model history (very short):
MP 100 (first model, not very useable)
MP 120 (slight improvement, OS 2.0)
MP 130 (backlit display, firt actually useablke model, OS 2.0)
...
MP 2000 / 2001 ('current' models OS 2.1)

the Newton Message Pad is discontinued, but still in very wide use. (try searching eBay for 'apple newton')
