Well, I've taken the Six Degrees on-line demo and I still don't get it. As far as I can see it looks like a less-sophisticated program than the long-lost Ecco, and substantially less interesting than Zoot. The categorization of EMail by subject-line, essentially the only categorization discussed in the demo, won't get far (IMO). I'd even `pick on' the calendar. While it has quite an elegant look, it functions poorly as a calendar (perhaps this will be a characteristic of the product as well). I don't find it useful to `picture' the month as two-week segments. And I pretty well know the numbers of the days without much help from the calendar. And is the page of `how-to-use' the calendar a `joke'? I don't normally need instructions on how to open a `book' (and if I couldn't already open the book, how could I get to the instructions anyway?) And don't hold your breath waiting for EMail clients other than Outlook. SixDegrees is scheduled for delivery in July and the first broadening of the base to other clients is due in October or November at the earliest. Looks good, but doesn't work well seems to be the common theme to me. But time will tell. With luck I'll get enough time this weekend to finish my review and publish it. |
