Tinderbox and Six Degrees are about making "networks" more "knowable". Of course they can receive data from all over the place. So it's interesting that these apps hoard all their valuable bits on a single box. Stuck on a simple desktop, probably hidden behind a firewall, your new knowledge resides. Sure you can publish a static snapshot to a web server somewhere--big deal.

Tinderbox/Six Degrees apps need to talk to other instances. Perhaps in the same organization, same physical network. Or not. At the very least let my office machine and my home machine sync up. Imagine the fun when you get an entire company's collection swapping info.

I think singular/monolithic "knowledge" tools are a thing of the past.
