I guess I am contrarian as always. I can't imagine that even 5% of the American Public has even the slightest clue what an `algorithm' is, so I am not sure that the name `Chief Algorithms Officer' is any more informative than calling someone
`Chief Snagglepuss'. In addition, I'd like to know something about the titles of the people who report to this guy. Are they `Head of Discrete Algorithms', `Head of Approximate Algorithms', `Head of Heuristics' or what. Unless the title means more that it would appear from the press release it is (1) largely fake; and (2) an open invitation to corporate in-fighting becasue of `unclear mandate'. It will be interesting to see if the job outlives the current incumbent. I'd bet it won't.
