The article was short of details. How is the concept of "data" defined? Languages such as Ruby or Perl have great text-handling powers; is that what is meant by "data"?

Is data expected to be more XML-ish? As Chris says, they'll liable to recreate Lisp, given that XML maps nicely to S-Expressions.
