On va voir.

| David Ness 8157 days AGO This isn't relevant to any of Chris' current remarks, but since the readers here are knowledgable, I have a hope someone can point me in the right direction. Does anyone know a web source for a bio/CV of `Doc' Searls? I'm working on a piece about Jim Billington (The Librarian of Congress) and Searls, and I find Doc has spilled a lot of (largely self-congratulatory) ink on himself, but I haven't been able to find anything about his educational background. I did find one wonderful quote, however. In January 2000, when asked `What won't happen in the Internet Economy in 2000?" the Doc, with incredible prescience said "The bubble won't burst." Well, he was right for at least a week or two... |
| motz 8157 days AGO doc searls: "My own IQ scores have ranged over 80 points. My SAT's were worse than George W. Bush's. When I was in Junior High School, my grades and scores were so poor that I was slotted to attend a "vocational" high school where they taught "trades" like auto mechanics and rough carpentry and from which nobody went on to college.
If my parents hadn't sent me off to a private high school (which I only half-jokingly called an academic correctional institution), I probably would have gone down the blue collar cattle chute. I still I barely got into college anyway. From Kindergarten through my sophomore year in college, I was at best a C-minus student. To me, school was prison.
Of course I still learned plenty. Some if it was taught to me. But most of it I acquired on my own. The system never stifled my curiousity." (source) |
