After noticing those "Work at Google" ads again and again when engaging in mindless websurfing doing serious web research I set a robot loose today to systematically check for concepts which the folks at Google think are attractive enough to use as AdWords, using the list of snip titles from this very VanillaSpace. You'll find the result in work-at-google, and should you stumble over such ads yourself, feel free to add the respective search terms.
Only mildly suprising is the presence of Larry Page, Monika Henzinger and Peter Norvig (not Sergey Brin, though) on the result list, but also people searching for information on database Urgestein Michael Stonebraker, Barbara Liskov (the first woman to receive a CS PhD in the United States) and Amazon's Chief Algorithm Officer Udi Manber are ad-wisely encouraged to apply at what will soon be one of the biggest advertising companies in the world. On artima.com, Anders Hejlsberg talks about the C# development process."We don't have any documentation, we do XP."After 10 years of intense development, HTML browsers have finally catched up with the graphics and animation capabilities of, er, the Amiga 500. Fascinating nevertheless: DHTML Lemmings. [ Ø MUXWAY • ]
 | Gerald 7861 days AGO What's about the Googleguy, he is missing in your Work-at-Google list ;-) And Google will become "the" biggest advertising company. It will be interesting to see how resistent they will be against commercial influences. |
 | chris 7860 days AGO That fellow is missing because the list isn't about people working at Google, but about key words that show "Work at Google" ads. But thanks for the pointer, what the GoogleGuy says is pretty interesting. As for "commercial influences", I think that Google is the living proof that clear separation between content and advertising works better for consumers and advertisers alike. It's rather unlikely that they'll follow their long-forgotten "pay-for-placement" peers into doom and oblivion ... |
