"URL is a useful but informal concept: a URL is a type of URI that identifies a resource via a representation of its primary access mechanism (e.g., its network "location"), rather than by some other attributes it may have."

Musste auch mal geklärt werden (v.a. nachdem sich die Dinger seit dem letzten Nachschaun im Jahre '94 von universal zu uniform weiter(?)entwickelt haben).

uniform vs. universal: das war m.e. keine weiterentwicklung, sondern eine forderung der ietf, da ihnen tbls "universal" eben doch etwas zu unversell, zu weit gegriffen war (eine rein philosophische frage):

"The key advantage of a web page Uniform Resource Locator's (URL) is its universality -- the address is the same no matter where in the world it is used. This is why Tim Berners-Lee proposed (...) that it be called a Universal Resource Identifier (URI) to suggest his vision of a network where anything could be linked to anything. However, he experienced some philosophical resistance to the ideas of universality from the IETF team working on the web standards, and so the address became named the now familiar Uniform Resource Locator (URL)."
