Jef Raskin launched and named the Macintosh project at Apple; after Steve Jobs took over to quite radically change direction (and [re]write history as Macinthosh's "father"), he tried to realize his vision of a computer as an easy-to-use tool that doesn't get in one's way a second time with the Canon Cat. Quite fittingly, the name of his company then was Information Appliances.
