Actually SymphonyOS (currently in alpha4) has all this webserver for local gui apps things: www.symphonyos.com/orchestra.html (and a very cool desktop www.symphonyos.com/mezzo.html) ... looks very interesting, maybe someone will invest in these guys... on the other hand i think this kottke guy (like many other) goes to crazy about all that ajax apps and the whole the web as a plattform thing. |
 | chris 7121 days AGO ppp: interesting links! thanks. before there's a "http" (i.e. some amount of standardization) of hybrid desktop/web apps (& associated runtimes and [delta] protocols), there certainly won't be wide-spread adoption of that idea. imagine the mess of having 27 little web servers on every client ...
