Samstag, 19. November 2005 Google's Datacenter-in-a-Box (Google Nodes?). I'm somewhat disappointed that even folks like Cringely start to mistake Google for the Internet. What's really great is still the Web — the aggregate of every little particle, every little niche, every little blog — and not the giant spider that currently happens to sit in the middle. Grand recentralization (that's read into Google's actions by Cringely and a herd of fellow journalists and may or may not be what they're actually up to) certainly shouldn't be something to feel particularly cheery about, and neither is this grotesque conception of a "whiter web" ("The Google Internet will be faster, safer, and cheaper", rah rah, and probably more colorful too). no comments Please log in (you may want to register first) to post comments! |
