NeXT one down ... or up, actually.

One of the most exciting projects at Google (at least of those the public knows about) is their Statistical Machine Translation effort.

Franz Josef Och just announced that a first Arabic/English^* beta is now live. Try it with Al-Jazeera - the results aren't perfect, but certainly the best I've ever seen for machine translation ... pretty amazing.

die PDP 11/10 war meine Lieblingsmaschine. Die hatte ich auf der TU selber unter meiner Verwaltung. Mit CAPS und RT11.
Das waren noch Zeiten:)

I forgot that this is an English speaking site.
The PDP 11 was my alltime favorite. at the Technical University of Vienna, it was used as a control processor for the electron beam machine. It was my baby, running under CAPS-11, later RT-11.

hello hans! no worries wrt/ german - lcom is a weird mixture of all kinds of languages, both natural and artificial ...
