Data availability was an integral part of the original (if informal) Audioscrobbler user contract. It seems to have fallen by the wayside, like a lot of the original Audioscrobbler ideas (why would I ever want your darn player instead of an unobtrusive plug-in, Last.fm?). It's probably high time to get some open data initiatives going.
