iMiner was a company founded by Robert W. Warfield and Stephen J. Kahn to do textual data mining. The technology created by iMiner was used to create a web site called PriceRadar.com. PriceRadar analyzed eBay historical auction data to identify underlying trends and patterns. PriceRadar could be used to do better searching of eBay, determine historical average, min, and max prices for over 1 million distinct items on eBay, and to compute optimal parameters for creating new auction listings for these 1 million items. The parameters included best category to list in, best keywords, optimal auction closing time of day and day of week, and so on. The tool was briefly marketed to retailers such as The Sharper Image where it was used to list their mail order catalog items on eBay with great success. iMiner was sold to eBay. |
